Our Story

In trying to conceive, my hubby and I learned we have genetic issues and only a 25% chance of a fetus making it to term. After three miscarriages, our Little Man is the 25% chance who made it :)
He's one quarter Barbadian, one quarter French-Canadian, one quarter Irish, one quarter German and 100% CUTE. That's why I'm a One Quarter Mama.

Read our birth story.

We were also told we have a 5-10% of having a child with a developmental delay and we're dealing with those issues right now. He was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder and Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) in the summer of 2012.

He breastfed until the age of 32.5 months (and I'm a militant lactivist). We've bed shared. Originally, I spoke to him in three languages (English, French and German) and my mother spoke to him in two, French and Spanish. We've used "baby" sign. We cloth diapered for the first year.
He is vaccinated (and so am I!) no ifs, ands or buts! He travels with me everywhere - he already had three passport stamps by the time he was 3.5 months. So those are my biases, just so you know, and of course, I think he's the best and I love him :)

After his autism diagnosis, I went for answers as well and was diagnosed with autism and sensory processing disorder as well. Like mother, like son!

We wanted desperately for him to have a sibling, but do not relish the idea of getting pregnant again nor my 75% miscarriage rate. In December 2015, our dreams came true and we adopted an Inuit baby through local adoption!

We also care for a sponsored child in South America through Plan Canada.

I work full time as an SEO specialist/content creator and Hubby is a computer programmer.

Hubby and I have been together over 16 years and married for 14 (as of 2016). These are the stories of our family.
